Give me a good table, an interesting person, and enough time for the evening to develop without instructions. I like people who can be themselves without narrating the process. A relaxed tone makes room for charm, honesty, and the parts of a person that do not arrive on cue. I’m more interested in depth than volume, whether we are talking over dinner or walking somewhere quiet. I like a relaxed exchange. a little natural silence. and the feeling that nobody is auditioning. I appreciate knowing the general shape of a meeting while leaving quiet around it.
