People close to me usually say I’m attentive, a little particular, and less serious than I first appear. I give playlists more responsibility than they probably deserve. I know what suits me, and I’m comfortable saying so without turning it into a speech. I tend to remember the small details people mention and return to them when the timing feels right. An evening feels best when there is warmth around the table and enough variety to keep it moving. A good plan gives the evening momentum; the people decide where it goes next. Ultimately, I’m looking for ease, interest, and the feeling that the evening was time well spent. A relaxed tone makes room for charm, honesty, and the parts of a person that do not arrive on cue.
