Give me a good table, an interesting person, and enough time for the evening to develop without instructions. I enjoy a room with life in it and the easy spark that appears when people feel included. I like people with direction and a sense of proportion. I feel most comfortable when the energy is warm, the conversation is mutual, and nobody is rushing. I like good company, sensible plans, and the freedom to laugh when details change. I like clear arrangements and an uncomplicated attitude when something changes. I like rituals, but I also enjoy breaking one for a good reason. I like the kind of evening that leaves no grand conclusion, only the sense that something worth keeping has begun. A little character goes a long way with me. I like leaving some room around the plan.
