If we meet, bring your real conversation; I’m much more interested in that than a perfect performance. I prefer quiet confidence to a polished performance. I like meetings that feel attentive without becoming intense, with space for both people to settle in. I enjoy people who can move from a serious subject to a ridiculous one without losing the thread. I like questions that open a door rather than close a subject. I’m happy to make a plan and happier when it becomes a joke we keep repeating. The best encounters gather detail, warmth, and meaning almost without asking to be noticed. I’m usually calm. although I have opinions about badly timed interruptions. That sort of ease is hard to fake. The atmosphere should support the people in it. I like leaving some room around the plan.
