What do I enjoy most when meeting someone? The moment small talk gives way to something real. I’m gentle in the way I speak and attentive to the atmosphere between people. I bring a lightness to things and usually find a reason to be curious. I enjoy a considered look and a relaxed manner, especially when neither one does all the talking. I’m drawn to calm rooms, good books, and conversations that arrive slowly. For me, comfort comes from good manners, a little laughter, and an evening that can take care of itself. I prefer a little breathing room in the schedule; rushing hides the interesting parts. I like the kind of evening that leaves no grand conclusion, only the sense that something worth keeping has begun. I notice when a place feels personally chosen.
